Miss universe is crowned because she has elegance, gracefulness and she looks soo good just by looking. But beauty of intelligence is far more praise-worthy. The last stage of a beauty contest lies in to seek answers from the contestants. How do you perceive a beauty contest? Isnt it too much based on the BODY of a woman?

Intelligence is just a small bit of it! I think beauty is really necessary for that award. Let's see it deeply. You may have a girl with mega poor intelligence yet she could be the world's most beautiful girl...so, you cant reject her just coz of her poor knowledge.

if you wished to set that contest based on brain-teasers, then it's better for the girl to take part in some IQ test competition or something.

it's true that a major part of the beauty pageant is based on the physical looks of the participant... but even though the physical aspect is important, i think that the jury does take into consideration the intelligence of the person. so it's a mixture of wits and beauty...

but i would still argue that the winner should be awarded based on beauty only. intelligence has got nothing to do in this... it can create such a wide gap!

i get your point... but imagine there's a pageant to elect a beautiful lady to represent your country, wouldn't you appreciate it if she's an intelligent lady?

Miss Pinky, when ur crowned Miss Universe, it does just not mean that the gal wears beautiful dresses and shows off her body around the universe.
She has to do a lot of voluntary work, she need to work for a cause, bring welfare of the people on this planet,for eg, AIDS, child labour in Africa and so many others.
So do u imagine a completely brainless gal doing all that?

In that case...the greatest Miss Universe should be titled to Mother Teresa!! I don't mean to criticize anything here...so, i'm sorry if i'm offending, but i'm just trying to show something.

I don't think it's GREAT to see a Miss Universe doing humanitarian acts...charity etc!! There's no big deal in that...

Many ppl do it...hidden...behind curtains...they need not make so much publicity of what they doing!!!
