hello everybody!!! my best friend has pretty long and curly hair. she usually straightens it using the hair dryer and hairbrush, but it doesn't always become as straight as she wants it to be... she's thinking of getting her hair straightened by using chemicals and stuff... have any of you guys done it, or have friends who have? is it alright and safe?

gosh Shenaz...did your hair get back it's original texture afterwards?

I don't have ANY personal experience with this chemical hair straightening, but i have pals who've done it before. some of them were happy about it and others weren't, just like Shenaz

Chemical products is not the right solution Rose, you should discourage your best friend for using these products, or else she will regret it all her life, my cousin once used such product to straighten her hair and the worse happened, her scalp was burned and damaged, she lost a great amount of hairs and had to do hair transplantation which costs a fortune!

A hair dryer is less harsh on your hair than a straightener. My advice would be to blow dry it first, and if its not straight enough, go over it with straighteners. My sister has very thick, curly hair and she uses this method, using a large round brush to pull the hair down as she's drying.

I also have discovered the CHI ceramic flat iron and it is AMAZING for any kind of curly hair. It makes your hair soft and silky and doesn't damage it at all! If you have really curly hair I find it is better to roughly dry with fingers and then take sections and use the iron on them.
