Hi,

I'm going to try to be as honest as possible and show respect for your community. I was recently hired to help market a DVD set for the Event Makeup Artist. The product is an in-depth look at how to do beauty makeup. It aims to teach you about the necessary techniques and products that one would need to begin a career as a freelance makeup artist for weddings, banquets, award ceremonies, bar/bat mitzvahs, family celebrations and actors’ head shots. It includes over 3 hours of demonstrations and 6 different models: Caucasian, male, Mature (older face), African American, Latin, and Asian.

With that blurb aside, I genuinely would like everyone's input in whether they would be interested in such a product and the best ways that it could be promoted to the makeup community. If anyone runs a blog and wants to review the product, please message me. I'd appreciate any feedback and hope this doesn't come across as a shameless pitch. If there's a better place for this kind of thread, please let me know.

Thanks for your time,

Will

P.S I'm sorry that there's so much spam on this forum, I hope I'm not contributing to the problem.

Default Becoming a freelance makeup artist
If you become a self employed make up artist, the work and pay is whatever you want. You could specialise in say, weddings and proms, or tv and theatrical.Make sure you go on a decent course, by a recognised body - some are worthless and a waste of money. One of the best ways to become successful is through word of mouth - do a friends for a party and give her a few business cards.Build a decent portfolio, be prepapred to work for free/cheap for a while, until you have a decent enough portfolio to show your experience.Always look clean and professional and clean your brushes and sponges between each client.
